For many, Pride is considered a movement of affirmation, dignity, and awareness. At Clario, Pride is an opportunity to celebrate our ongoing commitment to diversity and our ability to transform lives.

Creating a culture of Pride is a daily priority for our senior leadership and colleagues alike. According to McKinsey & Company’s 2021 Women In the Workplace study, “Almost half of lesbian and bisexual women feel they must be careful when talking about their personal lives in their workplace.” Our employees share the freedom of bringing their whole selves to work. Whether it’s feeling comfortable to mention your husband, wife, or partner or extending benefits equally, we are proud of the culture we are becoming. Our LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group (ERG) has served as steadfast and compassionate advocates for our LGBTQ+ colleagues by creating gender-neutral restrooms, hosting diversity and inclusion training and establishing paid family leave. The impact of our collective efforts promotes everyday visibility, support, and a culture that is inclusive by design.

Clario’s technology generates the richest clinical evidence. Diversity plays a critical role in the ability to generate rich evidence. While most people tend to think of racial and ethnic diversity, it is vital to consider diversity in sexual orientation – if we truly want to make medicines safe and effective for all people. For example, consider LGBTQ+ youth are at higher risk for cancers, cardiovascular diseases, obesity, bullying, isolation, rejection, anxiety, depression, and suicide compared to the general population. We need to know how new medicines impact these risk factors. As a member of the clinical trial ecosystem, we share responsibility for escalating the inclusion of LGBTQ+ community to sponsors.

Transformation does not happen overnight. It is a process of discovery and understanding. As we seek to transform the lives of LGBTQ+ employees, patients and the global LGBTQ community, we know we can’t do it alone. We hope to build allies along the way. At Clario, “Courageously Curious” is one of our company values. We invite honest and respectful conversations through open-door policies, information sessions, and open invites to LGBTQ+ ERG meetings. 

We are proud to celebrate Pride, accept our work is far from finished and remain committed to being advocates for diversity and equality.
