Whether you’re creating a new drug, device or clinical trial IT product, user empathy is a crucial tool for the success of your idea. With increasing focus on AI, DCTs and an associated increase in subject diversity, empathy for the patient experience is more important than ever. Spending a bit of time looking outwardly will improve data quality, reduce cost and eventually help with the adoption of your end product. In this session, we’ll work through an example and list some activities you can easily fold into your processes that help with listening and perspective-taking.

Boyd believes that diversity in thought and empathy lead to more robust and innovative solutions to life’s stickiest problems. Prior to working at Clario, Boyd successfully drove the re-thinking of clinical trial software at Oracle Health Sciences and previously worked at Microsoft, Phase Forward, Groove Networks and Curaspan Health. Paul started his career with a design consultancy in Ottawa, Canada.
